2022 lessons & reflections
The past year has been very reflective for me but also very intentional. And many good things came out of this year when I listened to myself more!
– It has taught me that life is a continuous learning curve, and I’ve so much learned and grown much through my experiences.
– If there’s anything I’m proud of myself for it’ll be my ability to always stand up for myself! And never settling!
– You can call it resilience!
– A few lessons, I have learned within the past year would include:
– You have to be your own biggest cheerleader!
– Keep rooting for yourself!
– continually try to have firm boundaries and don’t let people take advantage of you
– Don’t burn bridges: In everything you do think about the ripple effect, it might have in the future. Eg my workplace
– Choose your battles wisely, you don’t have to fight every battle. There are some things you overlook.
– Continue building your network
– if you have an idea that you’re passionate about, go for it!
– Know what you want, and stick to it!
– When you own your flaws, no one can use them against you!
– Life does not revolve around you, you will meet people who share completely different views from you, and you have to be very open to accepting different perspectives.
– Focus on your journey, we are all on different paths!
Things I’m proud of myself for in 2022:
🏆 For starting new projects and ideas – My Podcast: The International Students Podcast (TISP)
🏆 For being resilient – bouncing back from rejections
🏆 For knowing what I want and going for it (even with many available options) e.g narrowing my job search to suit my skills and salary expectations
🏆 For being flexible and open
🏆 For commitment to doing charity
🏆 For being bold and confident – more expressive and assertive
🏆 For being able to have difficult conversations
🏆 For being more forgiving, empathetic, and patient
🏆 For being able to tolerate different kinds of people
🏆 For building my network
🏆 For learning to treat unkind people kindly
🏆 For standing up for myself more
🏆 For being more attuned to my skills
🏆 For going for higher opportunities without feeling like an imposter
🏆 For getting more comfortable with my mistakes and flaws ☺️
🏆 For prioritizing my mental health and well-being
🏆 For being more reflective and self-aware
🏆 For not just loving myself but also trusting my decisions!
🏆 For not settling! This was my theme of the year! And I’m carrying it over to the next!
🏆 If there’s anything I did really well for myself this year, it will be prioritizing SELF-CARE!
Even if that means buying myself whatever I wanted, pampering myself, and giving myself the best version of life that I could at least afford! 🤎
2022 is one of my most reflective years, and many good things came out of this year when I listened to myself more!
What are you proud of yourself for?
Add yours!
Charles Adi
-Increased my network
-Listened to my inner voice especially those times I was faced with difficulty in decision making
-Trusting my decisions
– Prioritizing my mental health and well-being; omo, there is no year like 2022 that I was so conscious and I had to guard against anything and anyone who wasn’t helping my mental health
-Proud that I reflected more, re-examined and hoping to re-strategize
– Focused more on self-care
-Proud that amidst everything I was able to listen more than talking (they say, when you talk, you’re repeating what you already know…)
I share in most of the things you’ve mentioned…Hoping 2023 will be a better year for us.
